The difficulty in changing our beliefs can hinder the adoption of innovation.
In a nutshell:
We should carefully evaluate ideas that challenge our beliefs rather than dismiss them outright. A strong emotional response to a new idea might signal a need to reconsider our assumptions. We should also avoid only accepting evidence that supports our existing views.
