Moving at slow speed allows us to interact with people, but we still need symbols in the workplace for others and for our personal identity.

• 10.1 Traveling at slow speeds (walking) lets us perceive objects in the environment with great detail. As our speed increases (driving a car) these objects need to be replaced by bigger symbols that communicate the message related to the objects they replace. The size of symbols need to increase with the speed of the observer for effective communication to take place. p.41

• 10.2 Though we move at slow speed in the office, we still need symbols to create identity and a positive display of territoriality. p.43
